Bob Mould, proof there is a second act...

Bob Mould & Richard Morel's BLOWOFF!!
Alt Rock Star and Electro Music Maestro Bring the Party for the Rest of Us!

October 11 | 9:30 Club | Washington, DC
October 12 | Highline Ballroom | New York City

BOB MOULD and RICHARD MOREL's BLOWOFF is a musical smackdown of a party that has become a destination event for a wide cross-section of appreciative fans. Alternative music-loving boys (girls welcome!), burly beer-drankin' men, leather daddies, and loads of chunky hunks like those featured in BLOWOFF's smokin' signature artwork have found the party they've been looking for in BLOWOFF.

Keenly maintaining the musical emphasis of the BLOWOFF parties, Mould and Morel DJ in tandem, laying down a meaty signature mix of indie rock, electro and house (from Chromeo to Matthew Dear to Annie to Amanda Lepore), accented by a series of artfully eye-popping vignettes projected throughout the club.

Originally a live and DJ musical collaboration between Washington, DC-based singer-songwriters Bob Mould—formerly of alt rock bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar—and electronic producer/artist Richard Morel, BLOWOFF began over five years ago at DC's Velvet Lounge. Though the venues have changed, the DC party has become a local staple built around the music, great visuals, signature flyer artwork and an enthusiastically devoted fanbase, which now numbers well over 1000 at each event. Smart Bar in Chicago, Minneapolis Eagle (a Pride event), Homo A Go Go (Olympia, WA), 2006 Folsom Street Fair (where BLOWOFF was a headliner) have all hosted BLOWOFF.

2007 saw the highly successful (all parties sold out) launch of BLOWOFF New York and September 6 saw the launch of BLOWOFF San Francisco. A BLOWOFF mixed CD was released in 2006 and available via the BLOWOFF website.

Bob Mould's new album, "District Line" was released in February of this year and Richard Morel, who just produced four songs on the new Cyndi Lauper album—including the single "Set Your Heart"— will release his new album in November 2008.

In describing the music on his forthcoming third album (under the alias Morel), “The Death Of The Paper Boy” singer and producer, Richard Morel minted a new musical genre, “Shoegazer Disco.” The darkly moody album–aptly described as the sonic ménage a trios that would be Jesus & Mary Chain meets Leonard Cohen crossed with the Pet Shop Boys–is a deeply personal collection of, as Morel puts it, “eleven new songs to bring you down.”

The Washington, DC-based singer and longtime producer co-wrote and co-produced four songs on the recent Cyndi Lauper album, “Bring Ya To The Brink,” and produces the five-year strong bi-coastal dance party, Blowoff, with fellow rocker, Bob Mould.

The Death Of The Paper Boy” is released on November 4 on Outsider Music, the label Morel co-owns with music industry legend, Micheal Alago, who famously signed Nina Simone and Metallica to Elektra. Shutterbugs will appreciate the Jack Pierson photos adorning the double CD packaging.
