GHOSTLY INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN SAN FRANCISCO & LOS ANGELES THIS FRIDAY

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
GHOSTLY INTERNATIONAL BEGINS THE 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY RUCKUS

For nearly a decade now, the Ghostly International imprint (and its
dancefloor-centric little sibling Spectral Sound) has patiently eroded the
outdated constraints of musical genre, releasing album after album of
eclectic, creative work from artists occupying the ever-dissolving
boundaries between music, technology, and visual art. And while the labels
official 10-year anniversary falls in August, they just couldn't help
themselves so they're starting the insanity five months early.

Beginning March 6th in San Francisco and March 8th in Los Angeles, Ghostly
International
is throwing a series of special showcase events featuring
artists from their roster alongside a few of their best friends. There will
be many more surprises to come throughout the year from the Ghostly camp,
but in the meantime, here's where it all starts for all you California folk:

be many more surprises to come throughout the year from the Ghostly camp,

ABOUT GHOSTLY:
Ghostly International sprang onto the scene in 1999 amidst the the collapse
of the music business. Founded by a then-19-year old Sam Valenti IV, the
label was inspired by Valenti's formative years as a DJ and his love of
visiting record stores and attending gigs. Valenti's concept of a "complete"
music/art brand called for an attention to detail that spilled from the
music into the label design and all its related materials, from LPs to event
flyers to clothing. Part art gallery and part musical culture brand, Ghostly
mines the international landscape for talent with a look towards the future
and without the restriction of established genres or classification.

The initial roster of forward-thinking acts included instrumental hip-hop
prodigy Dabrye, electronic beatsmith Matthew Dear, electronic/indie-rock
pioneers Midwest Product, and musical firebrand Dykehouse; the label's more
recent highlights include abstract electronic producer Lusine, booty-electro
from Michna, shoegaze-pop trio School of Seven Bells, and beats-and-guitar
ambient auteur The Sight Below.

Ghostly has become as known for its visuals as for its music, thanks to a
brilliant group of Detroit-area visual artists including Will Calcutt's
steely design/photography, Doug Coombe's ecstatic live-show photos, and
Michael Segal's BoyCatBird Characters (the label's unofficial "mascots"), as
well as WK Interact, Mike Cina of YouWorkForThem, and Deanne Cheuk.

Ghostly International was dubbed Hot Label of the year in Rolling Stone and
has received a coveted spot on the late John Peel's BBC show. Ghostly aims
continue to promote great artists and bring forward work of individuality,
beauty and quality to fans.

ARTIST BIOS:

MICHNA
Growing up in both NY and Miami, Adrian Michna is that unique breed of
artist that draws from both the urban and the tropical. He co-founded
Miami's pioneering Secret Frequency Crew, who deftly mixed instrumental
hip-hop and electronic music. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, Michna (aka
DJ Egg Foo Young) has become a staple in the NYC club scene, known for his
chameleon-like abilities. His debut LP Magic Monday and the elevating single
"Triple Chrome Dipped" are works of distinction and taste, getting asses on
the floor in style.

THE SIGHT BELOW
The music of the reclusive Seattle-based artist known as The Sight Below
conjures half-remembered dreams and soft-focus sentiments with elegiac
beauty. All of the songs on Glider, The Sight Below's debut album on Ghostly
International, were performed live: The artist runs E-bowed, slide, and
lightly picked guitars through a series of loopers, 12-bit reverb boxes, and
delay units. The resulting swirl is pinned to achingly subtle percussion,
which guides the listener through the gloom towards the music's hopeful
center.

TYCHO
Tycho is the music project of San Francisco artist and producer Scott
Hansen. As Tycho, Hansen blends swirling melodies, stuttering beats, and
vocal samples into triumphant arcs. Known in the design world as ISO50 for
his bucolic, sun-drenched design style, which mirrors for his musical
output. In 2008, Tycho received a nod as one of URB magazine's "Next 100"
artists to watch. His "Adrift/From Home" and "The Daydream/The Disconnect"
digital singles are out now on Ghostly.

LUSINE
Lusine is the name Jeff McIlwain uses for his visceral, melodic vision of
abstract electronic music. He has recorded for labels such as !K7/MAS,
Hymen, Delikatessen, and Isophlux. Since making the move to Ghostly in 2003,
Lusine has released Push, The Flat Remixes, and the Inside/Out EP, as well
as the widely-lauded Serial Hodgepodge full-length in 2004. In 2006,
McIlwain remixed tracks for Alex Smoke (Soma) and Alex Under (Apnea), and
put out an EP entitled Emerald (Ghostly). Lusine most recently released
Language Barrier, an ambient album on Hymen Records, a remix of "Workhorse"
for My Brightest Diamond, and a Serial Hodgepodge remix album entitled
Podgelism. Lusine's Two Dots EP will be out on Ghostly later this year.

CHRISTOPHER WILLITS
Christopher Willits has been instrumental in redefining the guitar in
the digital age. Using custom-built software, Willits morphs his
guitar playing into warm folded rhythms of texture and melody. Named
³the center cell of a complex indie rock-avant-garde-electronic art
Venn diagram in the Bay Area² (San Francisco Bay Guardian), and ³The
Picasso of Sound² (Tokafi Magazine), Willits defies genre distinctions
while still defining a sound of his own. His guitar lines fold and
weave into each other creating complex patterns of interlocking
rhythm, melody, and texture.
