“Sharma indulges us in some of the most pristine minimal techno we've heard in ages.”

– Big Shot

“…the label has garnered plenty of attention among fans of deep techno and electronic house.”

– Time Out New York

Launched in 2006 by Deepak Sharma and partner Dieter Krause, Hidden Recordings offers the finest techno from the heart of New York City. The label’s diverse sounds range from deep techno to atmospheric chill-out with quirky, groovy bass lines and has been played in big room gigs, festivals, to smaller lounges and early morning terraces. With live DJ dates and catalogue piling up, it’s now time to share New York City’s best kept techno secret with the rest of the world. Hidden Recordings is offering techno lovers a complimentary download of the “A Side” from its February 20 release Monkey Brothers “Manuela (Original Mix).” This track has a pounding beat, wobbly bassline, sci-fi melodies and loads of samples and sound effects for optimal damage.

The international press has taken notice of the Sharma and Krause’s rising popularity with AOL Music's Spinner.com comparing their sound and style to minimal techno giants Lusine, Superpitcher and Booka Shade. Additionally, the duo received coverage in prominent magazines including XLR8R, DJ Times, Time Out New York, MixMag (UK), Trax (France) and Raveline (Germany). Global recognition continues to mount as their tracks have reached Top 20 downloads on Germany’s Kompakt-MP3, and Top 10 downloads on HRFQ in Japan while also peaking at #3 on the Balance Record Pool Top 50 Chart. In 2007, Sharma and Krause beat out established publishing groups and produced music for Singapore's Ogilvy & Mather advertising agency and their client, Heineken Global.

Prior to the launch of Hidden Recordings Deepak Sharma worked as a promoter; booking and playing alongside some of the world’s most recognizable talent. On one such night Sharma booked Fabric residents Tyrant (Craig Richards and Lee Burridge) for his Wednesday night soiree at Brooklyn lounge Boogaloo. The event was a huge success and Sharma was asked to create a mix compilation that embodied what was going on at Boogaloo. In 2004 – two years after worked commenced on the mix - Sharma released Boogaloo. Brooklyn. 3:23pm featuring music that was well ahead of its time. The compilation featured artists and sounds that would eventually develop a large following amongst electronic music fans across the world. Leading press outlets took note and the compilation received critical praise from De:bug, BPM, Remix, BPM, URB, DJ Times, Raveline, Beatfactor, ClubbingSpain and Sound Revolt, among others. The release of the compilation opened the doors for Sharma to begin to tour North America, South America and gig in Europe.

After the release of Boogaloo. Brooklyn. 3:23pm Sharma turned his focus to producing and started working on tracks with Dieter Krause (AKA) Laplaceausoleil. In 2006, the partnership expanded to the launch of Hidden Recordings as a means to take their sound to the world. To date, the Hidden Recordings roster includes like-minded artists Gustavo Lamas, Karri O, Lineas De Nazca and Monkey Brothers. Each release will be complete with a remix by Deepak and Dieter. The label currently has seven releases available and major worldwide partners include Beatport, Kompakt, Juno, DanceRecords and HRFQ.

In December 2008, Sharma (in conjunction with Rotate NYC) commenced a quarterly residency at New York City’s Bar 13. The night features a DJ set from Sharma and other Hidden Recordings artists along with an opening set from a Rotate NYC resident. The next party takes place Friday, February 20and features sets from Deepak Sharma and The Monkey Brothers. Past guests of Rotate NYC include Efdemin, MyMy, Luca Bacchetti, Chloé and Craig Richards, among others. Check out Deepak Sharma’s complete tour schedule below.
