Detroit DJ/producer Kelli Hand has been around for a long time producing a spectrum of tracks, including pioneering early techno works along with a solid body of house music ranging from funky and soulful to trackier, late-night excursions. The latest three tracks from her revitalized Acacia imprint amazingly captures her wide range of styles perfectly, sometimes all in the same cut, as is the case with "Are You Dreaming." These are all worthwhile excursions to the Motor City, with deep synth pads awash in filtered swatches of musical color. If thoughts of Hand being somehow minimal or new-school are being bandied about, she quickly dispels them with a hefty injection of Kevin Saunderson approved bass thump, enhancing the R&B and funk elements of these impeccably produced dance-floor gems.
