Six Degrees of Ambient India for LimeWire store

San Francisco-based label Six Degrees excels at compilations like this, that fuse the best in world music with cutting-edge electronic sounds. Opening with the achingly beautiful "Light Up The Love" from label act Karsh Kale, it's obvious that this will appeal to fans of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack or other works of A.R. Rahman. On "Prayers For The Path," Shaman's Dream Music captures the new-age/reflective style that Six Degrees has captured so well for those listeners seeking meditation music that isn't hokey or distracting. The exceptional combo Bombay Dub Orchestra provides the album its two best cuts with a style that can only be described as the future of chill-out music. The compilation closes on a more traditional note with DJ Cheb i Sabbah's modern rendering of the classical Indian raga. The song, "Govinda," is stunning and the perfect ending to a superb compilation.
