I have decided to shudder both this series and the Conduit, the 12th volume of each will be the last. Part of the reason is simply lack of time and the other belongs to the more nebulous notion of growing older against changing tastes. Rather than fighting those notions by lashing out or fitting in seems irrelevant to me - my goal for the Conduit series is to simply provide 1-2 quality house & techno DJ mixes per month - 60 minutes and streaming on Mixcloud. I have found that by the time I get around to posting a Conduit mix on blog 12-18 mos. have usually past rendering much of the inspiration and currentness of the music moot by the time it is out there. I just want to be more tactical and nimble within the confines of a serious time crunch. I play these tracks out from time to time and I know there is still a desire to bring people and listeners to the dancefloor - both real and virtual - but the idea of publishing something so formal as a mix series seems a bit pointless in the vast ocean of DJ mixes and radio shows out there for the house & techno community.
As far as the BTM series goes, it will continue, albeit on a very limited basis - so not much change there. It will only be available streaming from now on and I will be rebranding the series with a new name so, in effect, #12 of the Back To Mine series will be the last. The concept will remain the same, a wide variety of post club, coming down sounds compiled in a 120 minute format. Stay tuned!
